Files

Applies to: SimpleTwo 0.9.x, drive 0.5 · Checked: 06.10.2026

The Files tab is a place for the files you keep rather than send: your own documents and your team's shared folders. No separate sign-in — the same sign-in as for chats works.

Where the tab is
  • iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android — there, if your organisation has the file service deployed. On iPhone, iPad and Mac older versions of the app did not show the tab — update the app.
  • Windows — the sidebar has a Files section, but it is still empty.
  • Web version — no files.

If there is no tab, your organisation has not deployed the file service or it is unavailable right now — ask your administrator.

1. Spaces

At the top is a row of spaces:

  • My files — your personal space. Only you see it.
  • One for each of your groups — named after the group. All group members see its content and can upload, change and delete files. Leave the group and the space disappears from the list.

2. What you can do

  • Open a folder — tap it; the "back" row shows where you are.
  • Upload a file — the up-arrow button. You can pick several files: they upload one after another. A large upload interrupted by a lost connection resumes where it broke off, as long as the app has not been closed. If the same file is already in storage, the app says "The file is already in storage — nothing had to be uploaded".
  • New folder — the plus button.
  • Open a file — on iPhone and Mac it downloads and opens in a preview; on Android the file is handed to an app that can open it. There is no editor inside SimpleTwo and there will not be: to change a file, open it in your own program and upload it again.
  • Delete — without confirmation. Deleted items go to the bin and stay there 30 days, but the app has no bin screen yet: to get a file back, ask your administrator.

3. Space

Under the list is "Used … of …". The size of your space and the largest file are set by your organisation. When the space runs out, new files are not saved until something is deleted; opening and downloading what is already there works as usual. One file is at most 2 GB unless your organisation set less.

4. Without a connection

The folder list is drawn from what is already on the device. If the service is unavailable the app says so: "Showing what is on this device: the drive is unavailable." A file you have not opened before cannot be opened without a connection.

5. What does not sync

The filter button opens Not synced — name masks the app does not upload: Word's temporary files (~$*), .DS_Store, a browser's unfinished downloads and so on. The organisation's masks are marked from organisation and cannot be removed; you can add your own. Today this means one thing: a file with such a name picked by hand will not upload, and the app says why.

6. Not there yet

The app does not have yet: renaming and moving, file versions, a bin with restore, search, links for people outside the organisation, or comments on files. There is also no folder on the computer that syncs by itself (like Dropbox), and no connecting the drive in Finder or Explorer over WebDAV.
